Avoid late filing consequences
Late Filing
The Canada Revenue Agency sets a deadline for filing tax returns, and there are consequences for missing that very important date.
Penalties On Late Tax Filing
If you owe taxes and fail to meet the deadline, penalty charges and daily compound interest will accrue on the unpaid amount. The penalty is 5% of the outstanding balance plus an additional 1% of the outstanding balance, for every month your return is late, to a maximum of 12 months. If you have 12 months of late tax filing, your total penalty will be 17% of the balance owing.
Generally, the only way to file late without penalties is when the government owes you money.
Why Wait Any Longer?
